Based on 100g A-Grade Traditional Lami Kava:
You will need:
- Your kava pack (kava powder)
- 2-3 litres of water or flavoured water if you prefer
- Pouring jug
- Kava Filter
- Tanoa or Mixing bucket/bowl
- Serving ladle
- Bilo (traditionally a coconut bowl but this can be substituted with small bowl which will be used to serve the kava)
Instructions to mix Kava:
- Pour 2.5 litres of water into a jug (Any type of safe drinking water is fine but some prefer cold filtered water. You can also replace normal water with coconut water for flavour)
- Carefully open your 100g A-Grade Traditional Lami Kava and empty contents into the Filter (this is a precious powder, do not waste 😉)
- Place the Filter (full of powder) into the Tanoa or mixing bowl and slowly pour the jug of water into the Filter.
- Let the kava sit in the water for a minute and then twist the netting from the top (to ensure no Kava powder can escape) then gently knead and mix the contents while squeezing out the liquid kava. Do this for approximately 2 minutes.
- Carefully squeeze all remaining liquid out from the Filter as you remove the filter from bowl. You can now dispose of the contents in the filter and if using our Filter you can now rinse your strainer ready for future reuse.
- Serve with ladle or kava bowl. Congratulations you've mixed your first bowl, you're one step closer to becoming a Kava Master!
Note: you can add more water if you want a lighter taste or add more kava powder for a stronger taste.
